I was somewhat taken aback by how many people heard and contacted me about this piece broadcast on the ever-excellent Sunday Miscellany (RTÉ Radio 1) in early August 2024 – “On creatures lost in the woods – both animal and human – and each providing rescue for the other” as producer Sarah Binchy deftly summarised it.
It tells the story of a remarkable encounter that happened in a northside Dublin park towards the end of June 2023, one of those events that takes you out of place and time as you know them (or think you know them) into a zone of echoes and shadows, portents and symbols.
